Roughly 62% of job seekers said they plan to ghost during future job searches, up from 56% in 2022 and 37% in 2019, Indeed found. But it's not just applicants who disappear: 40% of job seekers said an employer had ghosted them after a second- or third-round interview, up from 30% in 2022. The data suggests ghosting is "still trending upward" and isn't a "passing fad," according to the Indeed report.

According to Merriam-Webster, the word of 2023 is “authentic.” And unlike the dictionary’s last few choices, it’s plagued by contradictions. As Buzzfeed and other outlets made very clear, she was the down-to-earth embodiment of the “cool girl” persona first popularized by Gillian Flynn’s 2012 novel, “Gone Girl,” a riotous, happy-go-lucky sex symbol. Almost overnight, the “cool girl” aura she epitomized was recast. Online, our miniature social media platforms take cues from celebrities’ mega ones. Should we even post about our mental health on social media, if we wouldn’t be comfortable telling our boss about it in person?

So far in 2023, choiceful has appeared in 15 quarterly earnings calls for S&P 500 companies, according to a CNBC analysis of FactSet transcripts. In 2021, only the CEOs of Molson Coors and McCormick said "choiceful" when speaking to investors on their quarterly conference calls. But the Oxford English Dictionary notes the earliest known use of the word in the late 1500s. These days, CEOs have used it to describe a consumer whose behavior has changed over the last two years. That's where "choiceful" comes in handy again.

He wants to overturn the warrant which he said was obtained based on allegations from a 2007 report. Back in December, the UK National Crime Agency, or NCA, searched Fridman's multi-million dollar home over several allegations — including conspiracy to evade UK sanctions and money laundering — per Reuters. Cathryn McGahey, the NCA's lawyer, said in court filings the UK government agency admitted its raid on Fridman's house was "unlawful," per Reuters. An NCA spokesperson told Insider that it accepted that the search warrant contained technical errors.
